San Marino is one of the world's oldest republics. It's 24 square miles in size and completely surrounded by Italy. We decided to take a trip down to this beautiful place during our vacation to Northern Italy.

A Visit to Gediminas Tower
Gedimnas Tower is located on top of a hill overlooking the old town of Vilnius. Inside you'll find a museum and on top there's a great view of the city.

The Old Town of Vilnius, Lithuania
Vilnius is the capital and largest city in Lithuania. Its old town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In October we spent a long weekend exploring the old town and it's surroundings.

Burg Frankenstein
Today we took a trip to Burg Frankenstein. This castle is located on a hilltop in the Hessen region of Germany. According to several sources, this is where author Mary Shelley found inspiration for her 1818 Gothic novel, Frankenstein.

Exploring Nevis
The island of Nevis is located 2 miles southeast of St. Kitts. It's less touristy, hotels are on the higher end, and we found the beaches to be much nicer.

Exploring St Kitts
St. Kitts and Nevis is a two island country located in the West Indies. The islands were first settled by the British and French in the early 1600s. These world powers fought over the territory until 1713 when the British gained control. In 1983 St. Kitts and Nevis became independent.

Copacabana to Ipanema
For our last full day in Rio we headed to the beaches. Our first stop - Copacabana! We took a bus from our hotel to the famous Copacabana Palace hotel. After dipping our toes in the water, we started walking along the beach towards Ipanema.
