Today we took a break from Rio's coastline and headed to the city.
Maracana
Located in the north part of the city, Maracana is one of the most famous football stadiums in the world.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian is based on the style of Mayan pyramids.
The inside is grand and different from anything we've seen before.
From here you can see Christ the Redeemer on the mountain top.

The building for the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro.
Imperial Palace

This is where the Royal family settled after leaving Portugal. It was one of Brazil's main political centers for 150 years.
Sao Bento Monastary
Built in the 1600s, this is one of the finest colonial buildings in Rio.
Escadaria Selaron
These world famous steps are lined with 2000 tiles from all over the world.
