First Day in Buenos Aires, Argentina

We took a ferry from Colonia del Sacramento to Buenos Aires, Argentina. It's a 50 km boat ride and takes approximately 1 hour. Here's a view of Buenos Aires from the boat. Shortly after arriving, we took a 3 hour city tour to get familiar with the city.

Plaza de Mayo

One stop was Plaza de Mayo. At one end of the plaza you'll find Casa de Gorbierno (also known as La Casa Rosada) which is the office of the President of Argentina.

In another corner you'll find the Catedral Metropolitana. It opened in 1791 and is the main Catholic church in the city.

The Catedral contains the tomb of Jose de San Martin. Argentina's liberator from Spain.

In the distance, you can spot the Obelisco de Buenos Aires located on Plaza de la Republica.

Lastly we have Cabildo de Buenos Aires. This use to be a government building and now is a museum.

Plaza de las Naciones Unidas

This plaza contains the Floralis Generica, a metal sculpture that opens in the morning and closes at night.

La Boca

On the south side of Buenos Aires, you'll find the neighborhood of La Boca.

This is the location for the Football Club Boca Juniors stadium.

Caminito

Caminito, or little walkway, is a famous pedestrian street in the La Boca neighborhood.

Unfortunately, our little guy took a little nap during our time there.

The area is full of colorful buildings,

Lots of tango dancing outside restaurants,

and of course, Maradona, the famous Argentinian soccer player.

Argentinian Steak Dinner

If your a meat eater, you can't go to Argentina without having steak with chimichurri sauce. Yes, it was incredible!
