The Train to Tigre and San Isidro

For our last full day in the Buenos Aires area, we decided to take the train to Tigre. This city is located about 28 km (50 minute train ride) from the capital.

Tickets were easy to buy and very cheap -- about $2 USD for the three of us. We took the Mitre line all the way.

Tigre

The most popular activity in Tigre is taking a boat around the interconnected rivers. Tickets can be purchased either at the train station or the boat docks. It's about a 10 minute walk from the station to where boats depart.

The boat ride took about 1 hour. During the experience we got to see lots of unique hotels and houses.

Another popular thing to see in is the markets at Puerto de Frutos. Typically there's lots of food, antiques, furniture, etc. but during our visit many of the stores were closed. We still had a great walk around.

San Isidro

From Tigre we took a different train line, Tren de la Costa, to San Isidro. The San Isidro cathedral, located is the historic center of town, is one of the main attractions. This was a great stop before jumping back on the Mitre line and on to the capital.
